Episode 5 – Building Wealth in Mental Health w/ Dr. Jesmond Fair
Dr. Jesmond Fair is a Black gay Christian cis-gender male psychologist from Opelika, AL. After graduating from the University of Alabama with a Bachelor’s in Psychology and a minor in Music (2010), he earned his Masters in Professional Counseling (2014) and Ph.D. in Counseling Psychology (2019) from the University of Georgia. He completed his internship and post-doctoral training at Texas A&M CAPS and Emory University School of Medicine, respectively.
Dr. Fair has intentionally provided quality care for individuals who share his identities. As such, his professional focus has been on the LGBTQ+ community, Black individuals, and underserved populations. He has broad clinical experience working with college students, veterans, the worried well, and people suffering from severe mental illness. He recently transitioned from the Atlanta VA Medical Center to his private practice, The Village Paradigm.
He currently serves Black individuals and POC navigating trauma, relational issues, Q+ issues, and identity issues. Additionally, he has joined the clinical faculty of Morehouse School of Medicine where he provides therapy and is involved with med student training. In the future, his practice will also serve as a training site for Black clinicians who want to learn how to serve the Black and Q+ communities.
