Episode 13 w/ Dr. Rhonda Rivers

Dr. Rhonda Rivers is a Georgia Licensed Psychologist who has been working in the field of Clinical Psychology for over 30 years. She has worked as a practitioner and administrator in various college counseling settings and worked as the Director of the Counseling Center at Kennesaw State University in Atlanta Georgia before leaving in 2009 to start a private practice. She has taught courses in Social and Cultural Foundations and Assessment of Diverse Populations and her primary clinical areas have been trauma and abuse, racial identity and diversity, stress, anxiety, and relationships issues, primarily working with single women. She has served on the boards of the Georgia College Counseling Association (Past President), Georgia Psychological Association and American College Counseling Association. She has presented workshops and talks centering on issues of Racial Trauma, How to Address Racism in the Therapy Room, Racial Identity and Self-esteem of African American Women and their relationship with their Hair, Cultural Competence in Mental Health Care, Using Mindfulness Strategies to Combat the stress of Microaggressions, and Mental Health in BIPOC Communities. Dr. Rivers most recently received the honorary status of Fellow from the Georgia Psychological Association (GPA) in recognition of her distinguished service to GPA, the field of Psychology, and her service to the public.
